Twinning Project “Support to the Institute for Standardization of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, financed by the European Commission from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA 2009) funds and  Bosnia and Herzegovina, was officially presented to the public.
This project is of vital importance for the development of Quality Infrastructure in B&H and creation of the environment that will allow industries and manufacturers to enhance their trade and economic relations with EU and international markets.

International Conference “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in generating of new values in 21st century” which was organized by the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Sarajevo from 9-12 November 2011. A large number of experts from multidisciplinary field (pharmacologists, phytochemists, pharmacists, biologists, microbiologists) of various professional and scientific institutions participated at the conference and presented their work through oral and poster presentations. M. Sc. Tatjana Vidovic, expert from the Institute for standardization of B&H, prepared and delivered oral presentation titled “Preparation, and method of making a comparative view an original and international standard - Sage (Salvia officinalis L.)”.

One of the key objectives of standardization is to povide global confidence so, thanks to the standards, manufacturers could reach out to global market. International standards are prepared and adopted in an environment of openness and transparency thereby creating confidence and giving everyone opportunity to contribute to the standardization process. International standards for products and services are useful for producers, consumers and service providers as they underpin quality, environment, safety, reliability, interoperability, efficiency and effectiveness. “International standards - creating confidence globally” is this year's World Standards Day message given by International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
